The Essex Housing Awards 2024, proudly associated with Birketts for the third consecutive year as headline partners, is now open for entries until 5 PM on Friday, 5 July. We invite nominations from a wide range of contributors in Essex—from builders, housing associations, local authorities, and agents to voluntary organizations delivering housing services.
Charlotte Wright, Housing and Community Strategy Officer at Epping Forest District Council and winner of The Mo Slade Rising Star Award in 2023, encourages nominations, saying, “If you know someone who has the desire and potential to make a great contribution to the housing sector, let them know. It has given me a newfound sense of confidence and has pushed me to continue stepping out of my comfort zone to learn new things and will do the same for others.”
Gwyn Owen, Managing Director at Essex Housing and winner of the Meeting Housing Need Award in 2023, praises the entry process as “user-friendly” and “simple”.
This year, the Awards feature twelve categories addressing critical housing themes, including:
• Small Housing Schemes (1-24 homes)
• Medium Housing Schemes (25-100 homes) by Spicerhaart Land & New Homes
• Large Housing Schemes (101+ homes) sponsored by Birketts
• Excellence in Design and Placemaking
• Climate Action – Decarbonisation / Retrofit / New Build by Kind & Company
• Meeting Housing Need, among others.
Gemma Gallagher, Head of Marketing and Partnerships at Kind and Company, advises smaller businesses: “The application is not too complex to respond to which is perfect for SMEs, as smaller business’ resources can be limited. Go for it!”
After entries are submitted, a panel of expert judges will review each entry, create a shortlist, and select the winners. The winners will be announced at
