In a career move driven by the desire to reinspire a love of learning in the student body across Bury St Edmunds and the surrounding areas, local technology education specialist Chris Bramwell has recently launched his new business venture, Tutor Doctor. Bramwell hopes to “lead the charge on what really needs to be addressed in modern learning” by providing high-quality, personalised tutoring to supplement children’s mainstream education journeys as they return to the classroom for the new academic year next month. The business – covering Bury St Edmunds, Sudbury and the surrounding villages – is making important steps in becoming a trusted pillar of the community, instilling confidence and passion that will propel local children towards success far beyond their time in education.
Following a successful career in technology-based businesses spanning over 30 years, including more recently the technology education division in the national not-for-profit, Herts for Learning Education, Bramwell chose to launch Tutor Doctor after seeing how children become stimulated when placed in a personalised, supportive environment. And with years of valuable experience in positions that saw him utilise technology and other educational resources, Tutor Doctor’s fresh, unique approach will support the learning leader as he shows local families and students what modern education should look like.
A drive to integrate freedom, creativity and multiple-format learning through utilising the power of technology in education means that Bramwell is focusing his efforts on ensuring local children have access to ways of maximising their own experiences.
“Receiving a rich, diverse education is a privilege, and it’s something I believe has been widely forgotten in the UK in recent years,” explained Chris. “Having enjoyed a successful career in IT education in my previous role, I’ve seen why a modern, trailblazing approach should be fundamental in society today. This new venture aims to encapsulate the best things about the current education system by helping children realise their experience never has to be ‘one size fits all’.
Having worked in a diversity of educational settings, I’ve had an insight into what children need to revitalise their love of the classroom. My values are purely centred around giving students the confidence needed to help them reap the benefits of academic success.”
Chris plans to make Tutor Doctor a widely accessible and valued service to local children and families in need. Already serving several in the area who share Tutor Doctor’s values and beliefs, he is helping put children on the path to success that will support them throughout the upcoming academic year. And with first-hand experience of the current climate in the mainstream education system, he hopes to tap into the amazing potential of local students and schools.
“As an educator, it’s vital that I work collaboratively with local schools and authorities to help support the students in their care. So many unregulated supplementary education providers don’t focus enough on the overall learning programme and instead ask students more general questions such as ‘What homework do you have?’ or ‘What have you got coming up?’. Tutor Doctor emphasises engaging and inspiring learning programmes that leave students with skills that will see them through their whole lives.
“Bury St Edmunds and the surrounding communities are entrenched in reputation and trust – that’s one of my main divers for launching here as I see Tutor Doctor becoming a real core pillar of education in the area. I intend to grow steadily while also creating job opportunities for others who share a passion for real reformative education.”
